We caught up with fast-rising Techno talent Parlando to find out what is going on in his world right now. This is a must read!
Hi Parlando, how are you and what’s going on in your world at the moment?
Hi, I’m great. Currently I’m working on a new EP and a few singles, I recorded a mixtape for Shibiza Recordings which will be out soon.
Where are you currently based?
I live in Tehran, capital of Iran.
How would you describe your sound?
At the moment my sound is mostly Techno and Melodic Techno.
Has your style gone through any changes along the years?
Yes! Actually a lot, and I loved it. At the beginning my style was more commercial but when I started producing my own music it changed, and it got darker during these years.
Who were your influences growing up?
Michael Jackson was my favourite artist when I was a kid. I also listen to bands like Nirvana, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Metallica and Pink Floyd. Later when I became familiar with Electronic Music I started listening to musicians like John Cage, Karlheinz Stockhausen, Steve Reich, Kraftwerk, Pet Shop Boys, Klaus Schulze, Jean Michel Jarre, Depeche Mode, Daft Punk and many more.
How did you get involved in the Dance music business?
I am a music lover and I listen to many genres. My brother played lead guitar in a band and when I was a teenager I used to listen to Rock, Alternative Rock and Metal a lot. I remembered that my friends always came to me and wanted music from me because I had a huge collection. I always selected music and after a while I started DJing and soon after I realized that I wanted to do more with music and started producing my own music.
Where would you like to see yourself in the months ahead?
Performing in different cities with great scenes like Berlin, London, Amsterdam, Ibiza, Dublin, Glasgow…
Which is your ultimate career dream?
Playing in clubs like Berghain, Fabric, DC10, Warung and renowned festivals like Time Warp, Awakenings, Sonar, Dekmantel, having my own record label and helping new artists and talents to develop themselves.
Your latest release was ‘Onda’, which was released on Redrum Music. How has the release been received by your fellow DJs and are you happy with the success of them?
I got great feedbacks from ‘Onda’ and I’m really happy about this release. As you can see ‘Onda’ is number one on my Beatport tracks at the moment and the position talks about the success of the track itself.
Who’s inspiring you in 2018?
Amelie Lens. I like her energy and her intense schedule. I also like the productions of ‘Township Rebellion’ guys so much.
If you could choose, who would you like to collaborate with?
That’s a tough one! There are many awesome producers actually but I’d like to mention three artists. Sven Väth, John Digweed, Slam.
Tell us something not many people know about Parlando?
I’m a fitness junkie. Sport was always an important part of my life and it will be. I used to do parkour, rock climbing and play football.
