A couple of months ago, close friends Audien and 3lau teamed up for “Hot Water,” a track which has since been received well by fans, due to its melodious drops and smooth vocals.
In somewhat of an unexpected series of events, 3lau decided to release a spontaneous Drum & Bass remix of the track, which has yielded an intriguing result. In the producer’s own words, “I was listening to a lot of DnB so I decided I wanted to make some.”
3lau is able to strike a fine balance between the harder and more subtle elements of the track, introducing a driving bass line to complement Victoria Zaro’s untouched vocals. Perhaps most impressive, however, is his mastering of percussion, as drums constitute the soul of any good bass music track.
The remix is a testament to 3lau’s undeniable talent, as he has a delivered a perfectly solid remix, despite having no previous experience with such a deceptively difficult genre.
