On Wednesday, May 11, Calvin Harris announced the impending release of his next all-star collaboration. “Rollin,” which features Future and Khalid, is the third song to be released off of his forthcoming album, Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1, which is due for a June 30 release. The newest track follows two previously-released singles from the LP – the Frank Ocean and Migos-assisted “Slide” and “Heatstroke,” Harris’ collaboration with Pharrell, Young Thug, and Ariana Grande.
“Rollin” assumes a similar sonic character to that of “Slide”; Harris’ sedate production backs Khalid’s sultry hooks and tempers Future’s energetic rap lines much in the same way as the composition of the album’s first single complemented Ocean’s vocals and Migos’ verses. Overall, the piece is a laid-back pop/rap single which is primed to garner substantial airplay in the coming months.
