Midway into the second month of 2017, BBC Radio 1 has already had an excellent year for Essential Mix debuts. The powerful techno set proffered by Pan-Pot, the mystifying journey woven by Adriatique, and the eclectically formidable bass offering from My Nu Leng have all been upstanding freshmen contributions to Pete Tong’s esteemed series.
The German duo of Arndt Roerig and Marko Vidovic have established themselves as tasteful house savants after over a decade of working together under the Tube & Berger moniker. For their Essential Mix debut, the Kittball label-heads show off their diverse tastes by providing a masterful melange of assorted house, techno, and varying other influences.
Throughout the two hour broadcast, Tube & Berger weave their own songs with an eclectic selection of other artists, ranging from Stephan Bodzin, to Cirez D, to RÜFÜS. Indeed, even Tame Impala and Soulja Boy make appearances in the duo’s set.
